Trashing The Turf

An intriguing article in the Democrat-Gazette today by Bob Holt on the issues the UA experienced with the practice field turf that was installed last year and subsequently replaced this summer.

One prominent name mentioned in the article was John David Lindsey, son of former Razorback football great and real estate mogul Jim Lindsey, who was hired as a subcontractor by Lasiter Construction of Little Rock to build the base of the practice field. The turf itself was sold by a company called ProGreen Sports Surfaces.

As anyone knows who visited practice last year, the field had a very noticeable incline from south to north and was obviously poorly built. For their part, the university claims that Lindsey was "only following procedure outlined by ProGreen Sports Surfaces/Forever Green Athletic Fields and agreed upon by Lasiter."

One thing the article doesn't mention is that Lindsey also built the field at Shiloh Christian Schools in nearby Springdale. In fact, the Shiloh field is still displayed as a customer on the ProGreen web site. The University of Arkansas, however, is not.
