"The Rest Of It"

Pat Forde of ESPN.com includes Houston Nutt in his column today: Coaches have different styles, same goals.

"From 6 o'clock to 11:30 every day, I'm totally devoted in the offensive film room," Nutt said. "From 12 o'clock until it's time to go to practice, that time is for the rest of it."

"The rest of it" includes checking in with defensive and special teams coaches, administrative duties, dealings with athletic director Frank Broyles, media demands or other face of the program obligations. At practice, Nutt will make some general comments to the entire team, then put on his coordinator's hat again.

The defense belongs to Herring.

"I have 100 percent, total trust in him," Nutt said. "I let him have [the defense]. He knows what he's doing."

And it's largely the same on game day. Calling the plays is "part of the game I really enjoy," Nutt said.
