One of those well-wishers was Kentucky coach Tubby Smith, whose team handed Anderson his last loss as the Alabama-Birmingham coach, 69-64 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 17. "I've got a quote for you," Smith said as he hugged Anderson, almost putting him in a headlock. "Missouri got themselves a gem. They got a gem. They sure did."
