Nutt Interviewing To Complete Staff

Articles today from Nate Allen and Bob Holt indicate that Alex Wood, former offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals, wide receivers coach for the Cincinnati Bengals and quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings, will be interviewed this weekend to fill the final vacancy on the Arkansas coaching staff.

Other candidates mentioned are Houston Texans receivers coach Kippy Brown and, interestingly, Randy Sanders, former offensive coordinator at Tennessee.

To me, putting Sanders and Gus Malzahn together seems to be a strange fit from an offensive philosophy standpoint. But Sanders could certainly provide Malzahn with another experienced eye for breaking down SEC defenses.

In addition, strongly considering Sanders when many have felt a minority hire was the expected move is surprising. The potential recruiting backlash that could occur with only one minority on the coaching staff (Tracy Rocker) would seem to make the Sanders hire an unlikely one.
