The Hogs had three first-team selections with running back Darren McFadden on offense, linebacker Sam Olajubutu on defense and return specialist Felix Jones on special teams.

Defensive tackle Keith Jackson was a second-team selection along with offensive guard Stephen Parker. Four Razorbacks were named to the third-team defensive squad, including end Jamaal Anderson, linebacker Freddie Fairchild, defensive backs Michael Grant and Randy Kelly. Fullback Peyton Hillis and offensive linemen Robert Felton and Zac Tubbs were third-team offensive selections.

Basketball season is still a few months away, so forgive Stan Heath if he's not sure how his lineup will look.

Arkansas is still trying to figure out how to replace Ronnie Brewer and Jonathon Modica, its top two scorers from 2005-06.

"I'm not sure who my returning starters are right now," Heath said Monday. "We lost quite a bit."

Ewing, Arnold Leave Baseball Team

Just a little over a week after being named a Freshman All-American, Mike Capshaw writes in today's Morning News that Razorbacks second baseman James Ewing is leaving the team. Outfielder Clint Arnold is also leaving to pursue more playing time at another school.

Ewing was apparently unhappy being separated from his twin brother Michael Ewing, who plays for Southern Mississippi. According to the article, James is planning to reunite with him at Hattiesburg.

As anyone will tell you who watched the Diamond Hogs this year, losing Ewing is a devastating blow. The future success of next season's team just got a little more cloudy for Dave Van Horn and his staff.

Yes, I'm officially one year older today. Well I guess it didn't technically happen all in one day. Let's put it this way...yesterday I was old...today I'm older. ;-)

As promised, I'm going on a blog break for a little bit. Also going to take some time to look at taking the Hog blog to the next level of technology during the "off season." Let's hope I'm as successful with that as Gus and Houston Dale will be in the fall.

Anyway...I'm sure The Slop and Hogville will keep the fires burning over the summer.

Friday's games will be Oklahoma State vs. Princeton at 2 p.m and Arkansas vs. Oral Roberts at 7 p.m.

The winner of the Fayetteville Regional will match up against the winner of the Clemson Regional, which includes #1 overall seed Clemson, Elon, Mississippi State and UNC Asheville.

Making OSU the #1 regional seed shows a lack of respect for the Hogs. Arkansas is the only school hosting a regional site who is not a #1 seed. The fact that the Razorbacks pitched a combined no-hitter over the Cowboys earlier this year apparently didn't factor into the committee's seeding decision.

Arkansas star Ronnie Brewer has hired an agent, ending any chance of him coming back to the Razorbacks for his senior season.

Brewer's father, former Razorback Ron Brewer, said his son hired Chicago-based Henry Thomas on Friday.

Arkansas To Host Baseball Regional

The NCAA announced its regional baseball tournament sites today and for the second time in three years, the University of Arkansas will be a host site. The Razorbacks are one of five SEC schools (along with Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Mississippi) to bid and earn the award.

The four team double-elimination tournament will begin at Baum Stadium on June 2nd and will conclude either on Sunday, June 4th or Monday, June 5th depending on the outcome of Sunday's game.

The other three teams slotted into the Fayeteville Regional and the remaining schools making up the 64 team tournament will be announced on Monday.

Lies...Damn Lies...And Rumors

What's the latest one? Well...of course...that Ronnie Brewer has reportedly hired an agent.

But it pains me to link to that flimsy article. I'm sure it probably made Scott Cain a little uncomfortable repeating it in this morning's paper.

But, as Alex Abrams writes today in The Morning News, in the grand scheme of Internet rumors and unconfirmed reports, it's pretty harmless. Especially when compared to untrue rumors posted about players or coaches dying...sheesh.

My point here is that after nine months and 550+ posts, I'm proud that this little garden spot on the World Wide Web hasn't become THE place to find that kind of crap about the Hogs.

But, you might be saying, "This is the 'Tipster' blog, right? As in anonymous Tipster? Why don't you deal out the more juicy stuff you hear about?" Well, sorry to say, my Internet namesake and the title of this blog are based on a longtime nickname of mine. Nothing more sinister than that.

I'll admit, though, it's been hard not to stir it up here. When Randy Rainwater and Chuck Barrett made the...uh..."editorial decision" to discuss the Malzahn resignation rumor on the airwaves, it was hard not to join in.

And when Bob Holt kept the spin cycling a few days later by getting the official "it's bogus" denials in the newspaper from "Big Daddy" Frank, Houston Dale and Gus, it was hard not to link to it. (I mean...that's what is considered news? What the heck did anyone think they would say?)

The closest I got was this post. Just some cyberspace reaction from J.R. and Henry and the Mike Irwin Fan Manifesto. (Ha...I joke...but I did think Mike was right on there.)

But the way we roll here is that a link is always provided to the source for what you read here. What that link points to might be flimsy...but it's still there. I realize that practice sounds obvious. But you'd be surprised how often it doesn't happen in the blogosphere.

Now don't get me wrong...I'm not riding the high and mighty horse here. But having read more and more sports blogs lately, I can tell you that there are a lot of ways you can go with a site like this. From constant pictures of scantily clad women on every post (Darn it...where have those been here?!), to diatribes on immigration and Iraq mixed in with spring practice reports, there are a million ways you can go. And no one way is the right way.

But consider the last part of that rumors article:

Arkansas sports information director Kevin Trainor said he occasionally checks message boards to see what fans are talking about. He also looks at them to find national articles that might have been posted about the Razorbacks.

My hope is that Kevin and others (like you) visit the Hog blog here from time to time for those very same reasons. As long as that's the case, I'll feel comfortable that this space is providing a unique and valuable resource for fans of the Razorbacks.

And in return, when I post here I'll just try to keep remembering what Will Rogers once said: "Rumor travels faster, but it don't stay put as long as truth."

AP: Razorbacks' Nick Schmidt is SEC pitcher of the year

Arkansas pitcher Nick Schmidt was named Tuesday as Southeastern Conference pitcher of the year.

Schmidt finished the regular season with a 9-2 record, an ERA of 2.81 and he had 130 strikeouts.

Schmidt was also named to the first team All-SEC squad. Razorback outfielder Jake Dugger was named to the All-SEC second team.

Undermine the program? Does Lindsey really expect people to believe that there's a covert operation to bring down (how much further down can it go?) the Razorback football program? Hog fans don't ask for a lot. They like championships but they don't go away when those championships fail to materialize. They want more than anything to show the rest of the freaking SEC that the Razorbacks aren't pushovers.

The Pundit Talks Up McFadden

I'm sure it's been pretty obvious over that last several weeks that things have slowed down considerably on the Hill and here at the Blog. And while I'm not ready to take an official blog break until after baseball season...I am willing to say that it's currently taking quite an event to get me off my lazy ass to post. ;)

In the meantime, I've been adding quite a few blog feeds to my RSS reader and one of the more interesting has been HeismanPundit.com.

Last week the Pundit had a post breaking down the top quarterbacks to watch next season. (Mitch Mustain was mentioned as a "Top Freshman.") Now tonight HP lists his top running backs and right there at #3 is Darren McFadden.

Wow...I guess it's sometimes easy for Razorback fans to forget how much national respect McFadden earned last year. Just the talk of his "breakaway speed" and "future top 5 NFL draft pick" potential is pretty exciting.

But the real question is...if you're considered as #3 in the nation before your sophomore year, could you be thought of as #1 as a junior? Could The Heisman Pundit be writing about McFadden a lot next year?

This link is a bit dated, but it has continually popped up on my RSS aggregator this week, so it is apparently begging me to comment.

Coach Houston Nutt told the Little Rock Touchdown Club that it's been a rough two years, but he hopes to lead the Razorbacks to a bowl game next season.

Nutt told the fans that the coaches are determined to take the Razorbacks to a bowl game next season.

"Hopes?" "Determined?"

There are at least 32 bowl games. Since each game requires 2 teams, at least 64 schools get to go.

The SEC has 8 bowl births lined up each year. 8 of the 12 teams can go to a bowl.

I'm sorry, but going to a bowl game is not really much of an accomplishment for a program that thinks it is among the elite in the nation. Two-thirds of our conference teams can go to bowl games. 50% of the Division I programs will go to bowl games.

Winning the SEC West, winning the SEC Championship Game, going to a BCS bowl game, going undefeated, going undefeated at home, being ranked in the top 10 in offense and defense, contending for the National Championship, top 10 ranking, getting revenge on USC for that thrashing last year -- these would be good things to have as goals. I'm sure all of you can think of even better ones.

Our head coach using "hopes" and "bowl game" in the same sentence doesn't exactly reek of confidence. Neither does wearing green jerseys, playing touch football and worrying about who might be watching.

On the same day we found out there would be no Arkansas vs. Texas matchup in baseball next year, the ARSN web site reports that the Razorbacks will play the Longhorns again in football during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

A potential basketball series between the two schools has also been mentioned, although it has not as yet been officially announced.

HogBlogger linked to J.R. and Henry over at The Arkansas Daily Blog a few weeks ago. Now they're back today asking the provocative question: "Arkansas has built it. So why won't they come?"

Armed with an impressive new stadium, recruiting should have been a breeze with Nutt's rumored Jerry Maguire-like talent in the living room. After all, he had a Cotton Bowl and a win over Texas already under his belt.

So why, after this multimillion-dollar expansion, is the football team getting worse?

No Time For Huddles?

Bob Holt has a good article today about the no-huddle piece of Gus Malzahn's offense. Overall it's an interesting read but I'm sure the Houston Dale haters will latch on to the last few paragraphs.

How much no-huddle offense the Razorbacks will run once the 2006 season starts is unclear.

"It's just going to be one of those deals that we’ll do certain series," Malzahn said. "When Houston says, 'Hey, let's go ahead and do it,' we'll do it.

"Obviously, if we're successful, I'm sure he'll tell me to do it more. If we're not successful, we won't do it as much. But it's something we will do."

Beverley Signs With Hogs

Stan Heath nailed down the final commitment of the 2006 basketball recruiting class today as Patrick Beverley, a 6-2, 175-pound combo guard from Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois inked with the Razorbacks.

Heath says Beverley is "an exciting player. He plays hard on both ends of the court. He's a very good shooter with deep range and he has the ability to play both guard positions."

Last fall, Heath received commitments from forward Michael Washington, combo guard Stefan Welsh and junior college forward Sonny Weems.

Deja Vu All Over Again

Houston Dale is like clockwork. About 10-12 practices into the fall or spring, he decides to tell the media and the fans that the team didn't "bounce around" enough that day. I mean...you can't be accused of being a "used car salesman" if you tell the prospective buyer the "truth" about every fifth car in the lot, right?

Take this quote from last August:

"We've got to have a better practice than we did today, our offense was really sluggish and sloppy. We had too many mistakes. We didn't break the huddle right and we felt a little too bit sorry for ourselves. You can't have any mental errors. You've got to come off the ball with good pad level. We did none of those things today. We have to do much better."

And now this after today's practice:

"We came out here today to try and get better and there were some guys feeling sorry for themselves. ... We had too many dropped balls. To me, it is a little bit of lack of concentration and a little bit of feeling sorry for yourself. We can't have that to have the team we want to have."

And amazingly, the next practice they always seem to get that "pad level" on track again...with the words "bounced back" usually uttered in the post-practice press conference.

Ugh...just win, please.

The Great Equalizer?

The Arkansas Daily Blog jumps into the fray today with an article suggesting that Hog fans and coaches should "settle down." Their reasoning? They suggest that the equalizer to all the returning talent the Razorback football team has is...

...the greatest ordinary coach in Arkansas football history: Houston Dale Nutt. If he can’t find a way to lead this team to 8-4, tied for third in the SEC West, and a trip to Shreveport, no one can. -- J.R. and Henry

Both Saturday And Offense Cool

Saturday's scrimmage on a sunny but cool spring day in NWA was pretty much a blow-out by the defense. I'm sure they'd heard enough all week about how the offense got the best of them last week to provide ample motivation. It seemed most of this scrimmage they were in the offense's backfield.

I sat over on the defensive side. Herring is hugely entertaining to listen to and he was pretty happy today. I got the sense the defense had a mission.

To be fair, we saw little of the offense we saw last week. Almost no McFadden, just a bit of Felix Jones, little of the more interesting pass plays, little of most of the receivers and very little of pass protection. I did see more fumbles and interceptions this time. John Aaron Rees is apparently a member of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teams as he seems to be on the field two out of every three plays.

Robert Johnson made the throw of the day to Hillis on a sprint down the left sidelines. Felix Jones had a nice run of 30+ yards off the motion handoff. Mortensen hit a few short passes.

The defense made more nice plays than I could count. The defensive line was outstanding. Cornerbacks played tough, making it difficult for the receivers to even get off the line. Olajubutu flattened Casey Dick early in the action on a blitz, although Casey made a nice completion on the play while totally giving up his body. Casey played more later, but it was obvious he was playing through a bit of pain.

Much more running in this scrimmage, including some too familiar plays out of too familiar sets, and some familiar plays out of more interesting and unexpected sets. I got the sense the offense was experimenting a bit while reinforcing their studies from this week, with most of the previous week's learning kept in the pantry for later.

Redshirt freshman Hezekiah Smith had a nice outing again, getting a number of carries and making some nice runs. He had a pretty touchdown run of about 15 yards. Ran right over the linebacker. Ricky Don Simpson ran a number of plays and made some nice cuts. With McFadden, Felix Jones, Hillis, Michael Smith, Hezekiah Smith, and Ricky Don we appear to have a stable of running backs. Definitely we have all shapes and sizes covered.

I thought the kickers all looked pretty good. Made a bunch of 41 yard field goals, many with the ball passing through halfway up the uprights. Hopefully we'll have a kicker this year.

Tipster's pictures hopefully give a flavor of different offensive sets. Our goal is to help answer some of the questions we've seen about this on various message boards.

For the spring game next week we are going to experiment with some video and see if we can add it into the mix of the blog. It's interesting that other (paid) sites have started including many more pictures in their practice reports since we've increased the number of pictures here. ;) By the number of hits we've received, there's obviously a huge interest from fans to see what's happening.

Saturday Scrimmage

I'm planning on going to the Hogs' second weekend scrimmage of the spring on Saturday.

As you may remember, last year the second scrimmage was the "real" scrimmage and the spring game was more for show. We'll see if that's the case again this year. (Although if Houston Dale wants 30,000 people to show up, he better make sure it's a darn good show.)

Saturday's Live Action

Just back from the "live action" event at Razorback Stadium. Had a chat with a friend along the way.

I've heard ESPN Gameday is going to be here for the USC game, which likely will be moved to Sunday, September 3rd. A camera crew will follow the Hogs on and off the field as they prepare for the game. With the exclusive audience on Sunday, this is a really big deal for the Hogs.

From the "live action"...

Robert Johnson made some nice throws. Saw nice runs by Felix Jones, Reggie Fish, Michael Smith, Darren McFadden and Hezekiah Smith. Peyton had some nice catches and yards after the catch. He won't be disappointing in the fall. The running game seemed to be taking advantage of the defense thinking pass. Perhaps a preview to what we might see.

I was about ten minutes late. If Casey Dick did anything good it had to have happened then because it sure didn't happen while I was watching. The first group did have a pretty good running game while I was there.

The defense took the worst of it today. I think we saw a bit of the play calling skill of Gus coming into play. Herring and Rocker yelling is great entertainment.

Again, Robert Johnson made some nice throws. Looked really good and poised. Alex Mortensen couldn't make any of the throws they were asking him to make today. He was throwing off his back foot, throwing late, hanging the ball up or overthrowing people. He can throw the slant pass really well. It's good to have that back in the arsenal with a big receiver like Monk.

Despite the public statements, I'm hearing Gus is doing a bit of mumbling under his breath in regard to the quarterbacks. After what I saw today, with guys wide open all over the field, and other than the occasional Robert Johnson throw, balls tended to land far from the receivers. Or they were hanging in the air so long that the safeties could cover half the field and knock it down. I bet Gus can't wait to get Mitch on the field. Don't count on Mitch as savior though. The speed of this game is way different than what he was used to at SHS.

My view has been reinforced that we should expect to see multiple "skill" people on the field at once. Don't be surprised to see McFadden, Felix Jones, Michael Smith and Marcus Monk on the field at the same time. Also don't be surprised if Damian Williams jumps to the top of the heap in the fall and joins those guys in the formation.

Still a work in progress, but progress has been made in the first five days. It is fun getting to go to the practices. Don't forget to wear sunscreen.

"A Real Intense Dude..."

The Cedric's, Logan and Washington, on Gus Malzahn.

Logan and Monk each described Malzahn as "a perfectionist" with how he runs a practice. Washington agreed.

"He's a real intense dude," Washington said. "He's laid-back off the field, but once we get out here, it's all business. That's what you want."

I also noticed that John Aaron Rees is mentioned by Houston Dale in the Hogwired recap of Thursday's practice. He's been getting a lot of reps and looked surprisingly good to me. I think with Gus in charge (hopefully) we are going to discover that we have more players and playmaking capability than we were aware.

John Aaron's father, John Rees, was a pretty good receiver in his day. I remember him for the disputed catch falling out of bounds on the two yard line on Arkansas' first possession in the Big Shootout with Texas in 1969 that led to the Razorbacks' first touchdown.

Unfortunately I also remember him for being called for pass interference when he didn't hear the check-off by Montgomery, gave a little block that had no bearing whatsoever on the play, and the cornerback talked the official into making a call after a wide open Chuck Dicus caught the ball in the end zone for what would have been Arkansas' second touchdown. Ah, those yellow flags of Texas. What memories.

Both the Friday and Saturday practices are open to the public. Saturday scrimmage at 10 a.m. Should be fun to watch.

Fast Passing

Terry Wood writes today about Cedric Logan and the "new offense."

Cedric's name was called many times by Gus during passing drills Tuesday. He was playing at least two if not three receiver positions, but seemed to spend a lot of his time in the slot. It was obvious that he was a focus point in a positive way.

Houston Dale never used the slot position to isolate fast receivers on linebackers or force a safety up into short coverage. We are going to see Gus do that. The vertical game will be there, but defenses are going to have to pass cover both short and long with the idea being that safeties and linebackers are going to have to make choices. Wrong choice plus a good read by the QB and a big play will result.

And yes, the pace out there is very fast. We will be in better shape than anybody we play and that pace will work to our advantage.

Pads today, probably inside as the weather is expected to be stormy.

Spring Practice - Day 2

I arrived at practice today and signed in at 4:35 using an alias and a fake address while joking with "big brother" at the sign-in desk. (Just kidding.) At a quarter to six o'clock I saw my first running play, a reverse, and at 12 minutes after six I saw my first handoff to a back in the backfield.

I'd say things have changed.

Houston Dale is keeping busy -- it appears he is taking a personal interest in coaching the punt returners. Gus and Alex Wood appear to be a good team. The offensive practice was tightly scripted. The coaches weren't all dressed alike as they were last year.

The defense is in full bore mode while the offense is in learning mode. Repetitions for the offense come fast and furious with Gus in charge. As the practice closed with 11 on 11, sloppy was the order of the day for the offense. It was obvious we had some tired fellas out there. They were kept busy all the time.

Things that I noticed on offense (besides the pace of practice) that foreshadow what we will see at times next season include: numerous pattern with five receivers; Hillis, McFadden, Felix Jones, Marcus Monk, and Cedric Washington on the field at the same time; double tight end sets where both tight ends might run streak routes right up the field; Cedric Logan, Felix Jones, Reggie Fish in the slot or split wide; pass plays that will cause the corners and safeties in cover 2 to have to make either/or decisions; an extensive package of screens and a healthy dose of speedy Michael Smith all over the field. Obviously Gus is going to put speed on the field and use it deceptively and aggressively.

Casey Dick still looks the best to me at quarterback. Mortensen can't throw long outs and corners very well, but throws good short and over the middle and appears to make good decisions. Robert Johnson's play was erratic, with the coaches being heard calling out, "don't be lazy" before his reps. He has a gun for an arm, but I still saw him struggling with footwork. At least now I get the feeling he knows he's struggling with footwork, as I saw him practicing his steps while not in the drill.

Receivers are being pushed for precision and exactness on their patterns. The number of steps and angles taken within the parts of a pass pattern is obviously very important to Gus. It will be interesting to see which receivers "step up."

We have enough offensive lineman to have three lines. Oh yeah, you can tell Markuson feels the pressure. He was coaching his butt off. Bobby Allen already has the corners looking good. Those guys are serious workers.

The coaches were using their public voice today. Lots of "freak" and "frickin" in their language. Herring was low key today - heard he was a wild man yesterday. Gus was the same Gus that we saw on the Springdale sidelines, still yelling out "Utah" occasionally but mostly seeming low key and extremely organized and focused.

Other than seeing the sets and watching the pass patterns, it will be hard to tell much about the offense for a while other than it has some vast differences from the Razorback offense of the last few years. They won't get good at this overnight.

The big question will be how long Houston Dale can keep his hands off the wheel on offense. In fact, I think he has the biggest learning curve of anyone out there.

Reports: Anderson To Missouri

Various sources this evening report that former Razorbacks assistant and current Alabama-Birmingham coach Mike Anderson will be announced as head coach of Missouri as soon as Sunday.

I'm happy for Mike who was always a fan favorite here in Fayetteville. Unfortunately, I'm afraid most would agree that he takes over a program that's currently in complete disarray.

One thing's for sure...the Hogs game against the Tigers in Columbia next season just got a whole lot more interesting.

Wow...two Nolan posts in the last week! Today he's quoted by the Evansville Courier & Press on the news that former Razorback Rashard Sullivan is transferring to the University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles.

Richardson considered Sullivan his second-best recruit that season.

"He could run the floor just like a gazelle," Richardson said. "I really thought he was an NBA-type player, I really did.

"It'd be surprising if he didn't lead them (USI) in rebounding and blocked shots," Richardson added later. "And he can score."

No. 11 Arkansas completed the mid-week sweep of Centenary on Wednesday with an 8-5 win over the Gents in front of 1,205 at Baum Stadium.

The Razorbacks improve to 19-3 on the season in temperatures that hovered in the mid-30s. The loss drops Centenary to 9-13 on the season.

Watching the NCAA Tournament games really makes it obvious that the Hogs can't shoot at the level needed to have real success. Not only do you need two or more solid three point shooters, you need someone that can shoot from 22+ feet out if needed. Remember that Michael dished to John Paxson and Steve Kerr at key points in the NBA Finals to win championships.

Do free throws count as "shooting?" I think so.

The articles and comments regarding the Razorbacks failure to (or needing to) press in order to beat Bucknell have been interesting. The simple fact is that Stan didn't have enough players ready to play the press. Bucknell had played nine players within the first 10 minutes of the game. Arkansas basically used a seven man rotation. We didn't have the man power ready to compete with the press.

Maybe if we had to guard people that can actually shoot in practice our three point defense might improve.

So whose fault is this? Recruiting comments aside, the non-conference season needs to be better used by Heath. In December he didn't play McGowan and McCurdy very much against the much weaker opponents. He also missed the opportunity to get touches on offense to Steven Hill in the post. Cranford, supposedly a "pure shooter," played like a scared little boy for about 2 minutes a game for a few games and Heath gave up on him rather than forcing him to compete and possibly getting in a position to contribute. We needed those guys to be able to perform at Tournament time, but we failed to get them ready by giving them minutes against the weak opponents.

A seven man rotation is not going to get it done. Concentrating on a seven man rotation in December really didn't serve us well in the long run. If you want to take the position that Heath "got all he could" out of this team and had a successful season then you are basically saying we are still a few recruiting classes away from making a run at the Sweet 16.

I personally feel we underachieved. However, we almost collapsed into disaster. So all in all the strong finish was appreciated.

By the way, let Ronnie go if he wants to. I don't think he's ready, but then I didn't think Scotty Thurman was ready either and he's made a nice living in Europe and the Middle East.

I'm glad that Billy Packer has exposed himself yet again as an idiot. And even more so than usual...saying prior to the Tournament that three eventual Sweet 16 teams did not deserve to be in the field. The Big Ten was obviously way overrated. The ACC isn't that strong. Duke will crash quickly unless the officials play favorites for them, which is not beyond happening. Texas, Memphis, Washington and Florida in the Final Four. (Okay...Florida probably won't make it...but I thought I should include someone who Arkansas actually beat.)

Enjoy the games this weekend. I know I will.

Spring has come forth in Northwest Arkansas with snow in the forecast. The Northwest Arkansas Times comes forth with the first installment of a series previewing the Hogs spring football practices.

The Arkansas Times Daily Blog cautions "don't necessarily expect the Hogs to make a 180 degree shift to the passing game."

I'm hearing that the new offense will feature "the old terminology," the traditional Houston Dale running game, plus aspects of the Malzahn offense, plus a significant contribution by Alex Wood in "pulling it all together." Gus was said to be extremely pleased with how things were working out.

I'm looking forward to checking it out.
